First of, I'm so happy whenever people take interest in my culture that makes me feel extra proud 😊 Unfortunately, after The Great Proletarian Culture Revolution that happened between 1966-1976, the Chinese government wiped off almost all the superstition traditions.. (ghost and urban legend believes) I get it because the government was promoting " don't compromise with faith.." "we built our own futrue" "happiness is the fruit in results of our hard work" etc. However, this also destroied a lot of our characteristic history and traditions... Unless Taiwan, Japan and other Asian countries we rarely see any big celebrations or parties about the dead in mainland Chian. Don't get me wrong, there are still other traditions that we celebrate like the Moon Festival or the ChongYang(double ninth) festival and such.. But nothing like Día de Muertos.
